Chelsea And Adidas End Sponsorship Deal

Sponsorship of Adidas for Chelsea FC is coming to an end after mutual agreement.

If you thought that the sponsor company only pays the club to sponsor its games, you are in the wrong. This time, in order to break the deal, the club has to pay up a significant sum. Adidas is known to be one of the largest gear makers for athletes in Europe. The company had a sponsorship deal with Chelsea Football Club. The company had tied up and agreed to sponsor its games and sportswear as well. The pact is being ended about six years before the contract would have expired.

Adidas, the German based sports and athletic wear and Supplies Company, stated that the agreement with the club would end by June 30th 2017 instead of June 2023 which was the initial deal. The agreement is being ended to allow the club to start another agreement with another competitor brand. The rival company has not been named as yet, but it will probably be between Puma and Nike. Puma is also a German based athletic wear brand that usually takes up competitive deals with Adidas. Continue reading “Chelsea And Adidas End Sponsorship Deal”

The future is looking very promising for Pochettino and Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino’s first season in charge of Tottenham Hotspur saw him pushing the English team into the 5th spot of the Premier League as well as managing to squeeze into the finals of the Football League club which was disputed at Wembley in London between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur but the team of Jose Mourinho came out victorious with a final scoreboard of 2-0.

Even though Tottenham Hotspur lost in the finals, they still made an impressive run in the Football League Cup as they overcame the likes of: Brighton & Hove Albion, Notthingham Forest, Newcastle United and Sheffield United before eventually reaching the finals against Chelsea.

One of the key things that is important to take note of is the fact that Mauricio Pochettino has a very young squad at his disposal with all of them having already displayed what they are capable of doing in the pitch.

From the defensive department of the squad to the offensive one, it’s a team that is vibrant and energetic with youth players who have their entire career ahead of them. Danny Rose is 24 year old, Kyle Walker is 25 and Eric Dier is 21. Those are the main the defensive players of Tottenham Hotspur.

Alex Song, a summer target of Chelsea?

Alex Song played the entire past season on a loan deal with West Ham United where he managed to play at a fairly high level; he didn’t manage to stand out in any particular way but the Cameroonian midfielder did his job well.

There were moments when his performances were clearly underwhelming and this was why he was dropped to the bench on a number of occasions in the last stages of the season but it wasn’t a horrible season for the player who is currently performing for Barcelona.

If rumors are indeed true and Chelsea as well as Manchester City are interested in signing Alex Song, he might turn into a big summer target for these 2 top clubs of the Premier League.

Alex Song is a player who can serve as a defensive midfielder and can also be placed in the defence of any team but in the case of Chelsea, he might be placed behind NemanjaMatic and be utilized as a holding midfielder.

A transfer fee in the region of €6 million could be enough to snatch Alex Song and if either Manchester City or Chelsea are able to sign Alex Song it would be a good transfer for any of the Premier League clubs as Alex Song has already has experience performing in the English League after performing with Arsenal for over 10 years and he is eager of getting into a top club and winning titles. Jose Mourinho has admitted that Chelsea is not good for new Players

Jose Mourinho has admitted for the first time that Chelsea may not be the best environment for young players trying to break through.

This comes as a major disappointment for the numerous talented youngsters in Chelsea’s ranks. They have just qualified for the FA youth cup final. Chelsea continue to have an incredible presence in the latter stages of the FA youth cup. Yet, this is not exactly translated into players for the first-team. The club continue to buy top players, as the younger ones are often sold or loaned to different clubs.

Criticism has been pointed to the continuous rotation of managers, who go for the experienced players rather than the inexperienced ones due to the fear of losing their jobs. Mourinho has introduced some youngsters into the team this season. The likes of Solanke and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have been seen in the fringes of first-team. One of reasons for not using them on a regular basis is the fact that Chelsea do not have the luxury to drop results. Mourinho has pointed that he has used youngsters when there is little pressure in a match. Chelsea will be playing against Leicester City or Manchester City in the final of the competition. Thibaut Courtois satisfied with Draw in First League Cup

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois says that he is satisfied with the 1-1 draw in the first leg League Cup semi-final against Liverpool at Anfield. The blues had earlier managed a 2-1 victory against the Reds at the stadium a few months ago.

This victory came in the Premier League at a time when Liverpool were struggling for direction due to the absence of key players. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers appears to have sufficiently modified his team over the last few weeks in such a way that the likes of Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho now form a major aspect of the attack.

The duo were extremely mobile against Chelsea and this made the defenders – Gary Cahill and John Terry – exposed frequently. The defensive midfielders – John obi Mikel and Nemanja Matic – were also not sure about the moment of Sterling and Coutinho. Continue reading “Thibaut Courtois satisfied with Draw in First League Cup”
