Newcastle United would be without four key players for their trip to Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend, including leading goalscorer Callum Wilson. England international Callum Wilson has been an excellent acquisition for the Magpies following his big transfer last summer. He was part of the Bournemouth team that suffered demotion to the English Championship from the top flight at the end of the last campaign.
Newcastle United paid £20m to secure his transfer from the Cherries and he has repaid that transfer fee with a return of ten goals and five assists in the league this term. His loss would be a big blow to the Magpies starting from the Chelsea game after he was ruled out for up to eight games with the hamstring injury from the last league game, a 3-2 home win achieved over Southampton with nine men.Callum Wilson account for 40% of all the goals scored by Newcastle United in the Premier League this season.
Apart from leading goalscorerCallum Wilson, the trio of Jeff Hendrick, Fabian Schar and Javier Manquillo will also miss the Chelsea game this weekend. Jeff Hendrick was sent off last weekend against Southampton for two yellow cards and he will serve a one-game ban by missing the Chelsea game. Swiss international centre back Fabian Schar suffered a knee injury during the second half of that Southampton match and has been ruled out for up to eight weeks as a result. Javier Manquillo will also miss up to eight weeks with the ankle injury picked up during the same Southampton game. Fabian Schar, Callum Wilson and Javier Manquillo all picked up their respective injuries during the Southampton game and they are not expected back until April. Newcastle United are ten points better than Fulham in the last relegation spot having played a game less than the Cottagers.
